Engineering and consulting company, Wood, said this week that it secured two solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts from an unnamed American power and energy company.

Wood was selected following a tender process and will be responsible for delivering two solar projects in Virginia with a combined capacity of 190 MW.

The first project is a 120-MW solar facility in Pittsylvania County, expected to be operational in 2022, and the second project is a 70-MW solar facility in Chesapeake, expected to be operational in late 2021.

Both facilities will also further Virginia’s recent Clean Economy Act, which mandates that the state’s electricity be 100% carbon-free by 2050.

These awards follow a series of other recent contract wins including $100 million of onshore wind projects. To date, Wood has delivered 200 solar projects globally, including 35GW of solar PV projects, according to the company.
