Nordex to help construct new 62-MW wind farm in Turkey

The Nordex Group today announced that it won an order for the construction of a wind farm in Turkey. The company will supply thirteen N133/4.8 turbines for the Mersinli wind farm, schedule for delivery in the summer of 2020.

The 62.4 MW order also includes O&M service over ten years. It is the first order from Turkey for the N133/4.8 turbine.

The project is being built by Alcazar Energy, which owns 100 percent of the Mersinli wind farm. Alcazar is a Dubai-based independent developer and power producer focused on renewable energy generation in the broader Middle East, Turkey and Africa. It is owned, among others, by IFC, IFC Catalyst Fund, Mubadala Infrastructure Partners, Blu Stone Management and DASH Ventures.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided a US $50M debt financing package and the US $85M project, which also received financing from Proparco, the investment arm of the French Development Agency.

The wind farm will be built near Torbali, about 36 kilometres southeast of Izmir. The Nordex Group will produce locally the anchor cages, towers, blades and generators.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
