DISTRIBUTECH International, the event that showcases the future of energy delivery, is proud to announce three strategic partnerships with leading solar industry stakeholders. Each organization will enhance the event, which takes place January 27-30, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas, by bringing more solar content, exhibitors and networking to the show.
Utilities flock to DISTRIBUTECH International each year to learn about new technologies and trends in the energy delivery sector, including: Distribution Automation, Asset Management, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and DERMS, to name just a few. This year, they’ll also be able to immerse themselves in distributed solar energy with content provided by the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), Solar Energy International Professional Services (SEIPS) and the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).
Through these partnerships, DISTRIBUTECH is establishing a strong foothold in the solar industry. More and more utilities are proactively addressing the increase in rooftop solar in their service territories and must understand how to manage solar energy to keep the grid reliable, safe, and secure. In addition, some utilities are embracing community solar as a way to give customers who do not have access to rooftop solar the ability to use emission-free solar energy.
“Utility-owned microgrids that are partly powered by solar, energy storage and other forms of distributed energy resources have all figured prominently at DISTRIBUTECH and our new partnerships will help us provide even more of this type of content that our attendees crave,” said Teresa Hansen, VP of Global Content for Clarion Energy, the owner of DISTRIBUTECH International.
The Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) plans to hold a co-located event on Monday, January 27, 2020 focused on Distribution Planning Tools and Best Practices for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Electric Vehicles. The group will also hold a member meeting during DISTRIBUTECH.
“DISTRIBUTECH is one of the world’s leading events for grid planners and executives to shape the clean and modern energy system of the future,” said Julia Hamm, President and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance. “We are excited to partner with DISTRIBUTECH to bring SEPA’s innovative research, education, and collaborative spirit to San Antonio. This year’s DTECH summit education tracks and knowledge hubs are well aligned with SEPA’s core mission, facilitating the smart transition to carbon-free electricity, so our partnership is a natural fit.”
Julia Hamm will serve as the Decarbonizing the Grid Knowledge Hub Luminary, giving a 20-minute talk entitled: Carbon-free Energy Future – How Do We Get There? Her talk will take place on Tuesday, January 28 from 10:30-11:00 AM.
SEIPS will be offering a course on solar PV and will serve as a content partner for event.
“SEI Professional Services is proud to be a premier educational partner for the 2020 DISTRIBUTECH Conference! We are excited to share our teams’ collective years of experience and knowledge in the solar industry. This is a MUST ATTEND conference for anyone in the energy sector!
The conference educational sessions we are offering will give attendees the insight needed to put them on the right track towards solving the challenges utilities and service providers are facing with large scale deployments of solar PV systems all over the world. Through case studies from SEI Professorial Services and industry leading curriculum delivered by Solar Energy International’s instructors, attendees will walk away with a shared vision of a world powered by solar energy,” said Chris Turek, SEIPS Director of Marketing.
DISTRIBUTECH’s partnership with the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals means that NABCEP-certified solar installers will receive free admission to the DISTRIBUTECH exhibit hall, where they can take advantage of the educational sessions offered in the Knowledge Hubs, visit with exhibitors, and participate in all networking opportunities. In addition, they will receive 50% off admission to the DISTRIBUTECH summit, where longer and more in-depth educational sessions take place.
“NABCEP is excited to partner with DISTRIBUTECH this year and connect with utility companies from around the country. As increasing proportions of wind and solar get connected to the grid, the quality of those renewable energy systems and their interconnections will heavily affect utility companies and their ability to manage the grid,” said Shawn O’Brien, President and CEO.
He added: “We see NABCEP working hand-in-glove with utilities to assist them with recruiting, retaining, and promoting NABCEP Board Certified Professionals to help them in their efforts to connect and manage higher penetrations of renewables in their service areas.”
DISTRIBUTECH International is the event for the future of energy delivery and as states and utilities enact laws and regulations that call for 100 percent renewable energy, solar energy will play a leading role.
