Research Center for a Smarter Grid Opens in NYC

This week, distributed energy resource management (DERMs) software provider Smarter Grid Solutions announced the official opening of its new research and development laboratory in New York City.

The laboratory, which will be linked with the firm’s other new R&D lab based in Scotland, will create a single virtual development environment that allows its development teams on either side of the Atlantic to collaborate closer than ever before. The investment in both R&D labs is to support the development of its next generation of products by allowing the firm to test the scaling of its technology to millions of distributed energy resource devices.

With its labs opening across two international locations, Smarter Grid Solutions can align its product development to global market developments and standards, it said in a press release.

In the US, Smarter Grid Solutions recently announced several commercial milestones and deployments with major utilities in New York, Ontario, California and Arizona. In addition, Smarter Grid Solutions has completed several key innovative deployments sponsored by the US Department of Energy and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), positioning the company at the forefront of the world’s most advanced markets.
