Maria Richards, SMU Geothermal

Maria Richards is the SMU Geothermal Laboratory Coordinator in the Roy M. Huffington Department of Earth Sciences.  She conducts research on geothermal resources and energy development.  Projects vary from computer generated temperature-depth maps for Google.org to on-site geothermal exploration of the volcanic islands in the Northern Mariana Islands.  Currently her concentration is on the conversion of oil/gas wells into geothermal energy producers. Ms. Richards will be presenting in the Hybrid Solutions track in the session about Fossil and Renewable Energy Partnerships.

Chris O’Brien, Microgrid Institute

Chris O’Brien has held senior executive positions with leading global solar PV and other clean energy companies and trade associations for the past 25 years. His expertise includes business strategy and market development, energy market analysis, technology assessment, partnership development, and policy advocacy. Chris currently works as a clean energy business consultant and an advisory board member and executive in residence for the Microgrid Institute. Bhodi Rader, Rocky Mountain Institute

Bodhi Rader joined the Rocky Mountain Institute in 2013. There he specializes in microgrids, distributed renewable generation, energy storage, vehicle-to-grid technology, and smart grids. His current work includes energy systems modeling, disruptive technology integration, and deep energy retrofits. He is also a co-author and lead analyst for the widely-cited Economics of Grid Defection report and its upcoming follow-on report. Mr. Rader also served as a Communications and Information Systems officer in the US Air Force. This is a role he continues in the Reserves as a Cybersecurity Operations Officer. Mr. Rader will be presenting in the Utility Integration Track in a session about Renewable Energy Storage Systems: Enabling the Grid of the Future.

John Fox, ElectroTherm

John Fox is ElectraTherm’s Chief Executive Officer. Since he joined in April 2010, he oversaw the complete design turn of ElectraTherm’s Green Machine and 10x in revenue growth. His arrival has also since marked approximately $1 million in Department of Defense contracts, a $1 million grant from the Department of Energy and a formal visit from US President Barack Obama. He joined the team following 19 years at United Technologies Corporation’s Pratt & Whitney Power Systems Division, where he was Director and General Manager of the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) Business. Daniel Rice, SunDial

Daniel Rice is the co-founder and president of SunDial, a supplier of solar hybrid systems to the Department of Defense. He is a former army officer, West Point graduate and Kellogg MBA who received the Purple Heart Medal after being hit himself by an IED in Iraq in 2005 after volunteering to return to active duty in 2004 after a thirteen year break in service.
