German Environmental Minister Proposes Monthly FIT Cuts

To avoid the biannual booms that come with the current twice-yearly FIT rate cuts, and to help Germany better stick to its target corridor of about 3 GW of new solar capacity per year, the Federal Environment Minister, Norbert Röttgen, is proposing to cut FIT rates on a monthly basis. The cuts should be at about the same level overall as the cuts already planned under the just-revised EEG 2012 (Renewable Energy Sources Act), which will need to be revised yet again to implement this change.
