EU PVSEC attendees will be able to use a working prototype cell-to-cell interconnection tester from RIMAS and TNO. The tester is contactless to avoid PV module damage, and works on- and off-line and in the field.
August 22, 2011 — RIMAS will present its solar cell interconnection tester prototype at the PVSEC exhibition in Hamburg, Germany in September. The tester checks cell-to-cell interconnections on a photovoltaic module and monitors ribbon quality, detecting broken or weak connections without contact.
The tester targets in- and off-line production test, test prior to module lamination (for string repair operations), and field quality inspections. The contactless design prevents solar cell damage during test.
The product was co-developed by TNO and RIMAS Technology Group. A handheld working prototype will be available to EU PVSEC attendees at Hall A1, Booth C4, Hamburg Messe, September 5-8. The tradeshow will allow RIMAS to garner feedback from production specialists to finalize the product design and functionality, said RIMAS head of sales Ronald Ceulemans.
RIMAS will also present SmartTab cell interconnection technology, developed by VDWSolar, at EU PVSEC. SmartTab enables higher efficiency and better aesthetics in standard and backside contact solar cells.
