NY gives Precision Flow Technologies $1.5M to expand, add jobs

Precision Flow Technologies (PFT) received $1.5 million from NYSERDA to expand its solar thin-film and LED production equipment manufacturing area.

July 28, 2011 — Precision Flow Technologies (PFT), manufacturing, gas and chemical handling equipment provider, received $1.5 million from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to expand its solar thin-film and LED production equipment manufacturing area.

This funding will allow Precision Flow Technologies to expand at its TechCity Kingston, NY site by improving material handling and storage, adding tool assembly bays, and increasing administrative and customer space. Funding is subject to successful development of a formal contract.

PFT is one of 9 NY State companies receiving funds from NYSERDA, which pulled together $13 million in total awards. These awards are projected to leverage more than $150 million in private sector investment.

The investment, along with federal aid, will “create even more solar energy jobs…in the Hudson Valley,” asserted Congressman Maurice Hinchey, noting that PFT will need to staff its expanded manufacturing capacity.

PFT president Kevin Brady added that the market for clean-tech production tools is growing “at breakneck speed,” and the expansion is timely for his company to meet this upswing in demand.

Since 2007, NYSERDA has provided funding to help New York State companies develop or expand facilities to manufacture innovative renewable, clean energy or energy efficient products.

Precision Flow Technologies (PFT) makes components for semiconductor, photovoltaic, and LED equipment suppliers. PFT also offers ultra high purity specialty gas and chemical handling products, as well as measurement and metrology systems in support of the process critical applications.
