PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) will discuss its novel solar panel Reliability Demonstration Test at Intersolar North America during the International PV Quality Assurance Forum.
July 4, 2011 – BUSINESS WIRE — North American independent solar panel test lab PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) will discuss its novel solar panel Reliability Demonstration Test at Intersolar North America during the International PV Quality Assurance Forum, hosted by NREL and Japan?s AIST and PVTEC.
PVEL’s test evaluates a solar panel’s durability under real-world stresses. The company will discuss how solar panel warranties/service life contracts have grown from an average of 5 years (1980s) to 25 years, and how initial testing can protect solar installation investors.
PVEL also points out that two comprable solar panels from different suppliers can age completely differently in the field. While typical project financing estimates account for a 0.5% per year degradation rate with zero catastrophic failure events, actual installations have shown this to be wildly varied.
PV Evolution Labs will participate in the following Intersolar 2011 events:
- Monday, July 11 – 12:00-1:00pm: Panel Discussion: Managing & Optimizing Solar Assets
- Friday, July 15 – 3:30-6:00pm: NREL PV Module QA Forum ? Proposed New Tests
- PVEL will perform a Reliability Demonstration Test at 4:30pm
PV Evolution Labs tests solar panel performance and aging behavior. Visit www.PVEL.com for more information.
