(November 18, 2010) — MACtac Specialty Products has launched the SOLARFAST UV Cure Adhesive System as part of its solar cell assembly product portfolio.
Designed for concentrating and flexible solar applications, the new SOLARFAST UV Cure Adhesive System high-strength solar bonding tapes (SF-1003 and SF-1005) are designed to withstand a range of environmental conditions where a high-temperature, high-strength bond is required.
The product is based in MACtac’s pressure-sensitive adhesive capabilities, with a free film adhesive, which, when UV cured, provides extreme heat resistance. MACtac’s SOLARFAST UV Cure Adhesive System includes SF-1003, a 3.0-mil free film adhesive, and SF-1005, a 5.0-mil free film adhesive. Both are protected by a two sided, 80# release coated, brown kraft liner. The free film adhesive initially bonds similar to a typical pressure-sensitive adhesive, but the final bond is initiated through UV light. Once cured, the adhesive has extreme heat resistance, low creep and excellent peel.
Tested and proven to resist more than 400F while maintaining a secure bond, the free film adhesive featured on the new high-strength solar bonding tapes is an excellent substitute for liquid or complex cure adhesives and simplifies the manufacturing process.
MACtac provides pressure-sensitive adhesives and is a subsidiary of the Bemis Company, Inc., flexible packaging supplier. For more information, visit www.MACtac.com/Technical.
