Spartanburg, South Carolina [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] Tindall Corporation has announced plans to construct a new precast, prestressed manufacturing facility in the US at Newton, Kansas, that will be dedicated to the manufacture of the company’s new concrete wind tower base system.
Situated on a 144 acre site in the Kansas Logistics Park, the 150,000-200,000 square foot facility will be the company’s sixth and largest.
Slated to begin construction by April 2011, the new plant will take about 9 months to complete. The Newton site was selected for several reasons, including access to interstate and rail lines. This plant represents a capital investment of US$66 million.
Tindall’s vice president of Business Development, Chris Palumbo, said: “This base system for wind tower monopoles boosts the turbines to heights above 100 metres into stronger, steadier winds that generate more power.”
