NRG Starts Work on West Texas Wind Farm

NRG Energy, Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary, Padoma Wind Power LLC, has started construction on the Elbow Creek Wind Project, a 122-megawatt (MW) wind farm near Big Spring, Texas. Early land rights to the project were acquired from Wind Plus Holdings, Inc.

Construction of the Elbow Creek Wind Project is expected to take nine months and commercial operation is expected to begin by the end of the year. The project will use 53 Siemens 2.3-MW wind turbine generators.

“Adding Elbow Creek to NRG’s generation fleet increases our portfolio fuel diversity in Texas,” said Jan Paulin, Senior VP, of NRG and CEO of Padoma Wind Power. “Through these wind projects as well as others in varying stages of development in Texas and California, Padoma will build on NRG’s commitment to expanding its ownership of zero fuel, zero-emission wind power.”
