Siemens To Build French Wind Farm

Siemens Energy has received an order from the wind project developer Eolfi for a wind farm in France, to be located 30 km north of Troyes. With a total capacity of 41 megawats (MW), the Les Grandes Chapelles wind farm will be the largest wind project Siemens has installed in the country to date.

The 18 Siemens wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3 MW each are scheduled to be put into service in February 2009. In addition to the supply and erection of the wind turbines for Eolfi, a five-year service agreement is also part of the contract.

Each of the 18 wind turbines has a capacity of 2.3 MW, a rotor diameter of 93 meters and will be mounted on an 80 meter tower. The wind turbines will each produce over 6 GWh per year. The Grandes Chapelles wind farm will increase the wind turbine capacity installed by Siemens Energy in France to approximately 190 MW.
