Peterborough, New Hampshire [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Demand for renewable energy in the U.S. is growing rapidly — so rapidly, in fact, that supply cannot keep up. Even though renewables only make up around 7 percent of the U.S. electricity supply, growing voluntary markets and new state renewable portfolio standards (RPS) will ensure that clean sources of energy make up a larger part of the nation’s energy mix. So, will the industry be able to meet the needs of the market over the next few years?Lori Bird, a Senior Analyst for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory joins us to talk about a report she co-authored on the short-term renewable energy shortfall in the U.S.
We’ll also talk with Jeff Deyette, Energy Analyst for the Union of Concerned Scientists about impact of the 26 RPS programs in the U.S.
