The Saga Behind Cape Wind; Growing Opportunities in the Renewable Energy Sector

For six years, the proposed offshore Cape Wind farm has faced a tough battle waged by a group of residents living on the Nantucket Sound. Journalist and author Wendy Williams has written a book about the project’s history titled, Cape Wind: Money, Celebrity, Class, Politics and the Battle for Our Energy Future on Nantucket Sound.

Williams, who is a resident of Cape Cod, has watched the saga unfold since 2000. She decided to write the book after learning about the motives behind the claims of the project’s opponents. Williams joins us to talk about how the fight over Cape Wind represents the broader problem here in the U.S. of a powerful, privileged minority imposing their will on the majority.

Also in the podcast: We’ll talk to Mark Crowdis, Founder and President of Think Energy, a renewable energy consulting firm. He’ll tell us about how his experience in the field of clean energy illustrates the diverse amount of opportunities in this rapidly growing industry.
