Iowa’s biodiesel production capacity has moved past the 225 million gallon per year mark with the start of production at a Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG)-constructed and managed commercial-scale biodiesel plant. Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC (IRE), a 30 million gallon per year (mgy) plant in Washington, Iowa began producing high quality biodiesel this month.
