SAFC Developer Raises Funds to Speed Fuel Cell Commercialization

Pasadena, California [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Superprotonic, Inc. is a developer of Solid Acid Fuel Cells (SAFC), a new technology that is said to overcome the barriers to mass adoption of fuel cells. Solid acids are solid-state materials exhibiting liquid level conductivities at intermediate temperatures (150degrees C to 300degrees C). The company announced the closing of the first tranche of its $16.2 M second institutional financing round. The new funding will be used to accelerate the development and commercialization of Superprotonic’s low cost, durable SAFC stacks, initially targeting portable military, premium and back up power, and auxiliary power unit (APU) markets.
