Search Engine Tracks International Renewable Energy Policies

Financiers in Europe can now compare different government policies toward wind, biomass and small hydro project development using reegle, an online searchable database of preselected information on varying policy and legislation among European countries.

Work on reegle, which was implemented by the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), began a year ago, when the governments of Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom needed access to quality information to increase uptake of renewables worldwide. “What reegle will do is bring together all the information that you need to know about laws, jurisdiction, investment, finance and about policies and measures,” said Henry Derwent, Director, Climate Energy Environment at the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
