Allentown, Pennsylvania [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] PPL Energy Services’ renewable energy work has been named a “Project of the Year” during the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s awards ceremony, the 10th Annual Landfill Methane Outreach Program Partner and Project of the Year, held in Baltimore, Maryland. The PPL Corporation subsidiary partnered with the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Turkey Hill Dairy to design and build a 3.2-megawatt methane-to-energy power generation system in Manor Township, Pa. PPL Energy Services installed, owns and operates the energy facility while the authority installed the system that provides the gas.
