Solar Gaining Ground in U.S. Congress

Congress has paid much more attention to solar energy in recent years due to intensive awareness campaigns by members of the solar industry, according to a leading solar policy expert.

“Members of Congress are starting to realize that solar is not some wild technology from the 70’s. Rather it is the new high tech growth industry,” explained Rhone Resch, President of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), speaking on RenewableEnergyAccess.com’s Inside Renewable Energy podcast. Resch outlined many reasons for growing support of solar on Capitol Hill. Politicians across the board are understanding that solar is good for job creation, environmental protection, energy independence and grid stability. SEIA is supporting the “Empowering America Act,” introduced by Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA). It is one of many pro-solar energy bills currently in the House.
