[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Germany’s Solon AG was commissioned by GEOSOL Iberica, Granada, to build several solar power plants in Spain. The projects involve a total output of more than 8 MW and will be constructed in Andalusia. The Spanish market for solar installations has been very dynamic since the introduction of new compensation regulations for solar energy in Spain in March 2004. Solar installations with a total output of 11 MW were installed in Spain in 2004. Growth of 40 percent is expected in the Spanish photovoltaic market this year, according to Solarplaza, a Dutch corporate consulting company. In addition to the solar parks being constructed by Solon in Erlasee and Borna this year, these major power plant projects in Spain will also incorporate Solon Movers. The Solon Mover is an industrially manufactured, ready-for-connection photovoltaic system where the solar modules follow the position of the sun. This makes it possible to greatly increase output in comparison with traditional, static solar collectors (see link below to Product News item).
