Energy Secretary Highlights Clean Truck Technology

[] Highlighting the promise of alternative fuel trucks and buses, Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman opened an exhibition this week of energy-efficient, clean diesel and advanced hybrid commercial vehicles at a press conference in Washington, D.C. Secretary Bodman also underscored the need to pass an energy bill that encourages the use of renewable fuels and new technologies to provide the United States with greater energy independence. Several of the vehicles on display from Allison, Caterpillar, Cummins, Eaton, EPA, International, Oshkosh and Volvo were developed in a cooperative effort between manufacturers and the DOE-led 21st Century Truck Partnership, a government / industry initiative to develop advanced technologies for fuel-efficient commercial vehicles. The exhibition was cosponsored by the Diesel Technology Forum at a conference of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
