Wind Turbine Generates One million kWh in a Month

[] One month after the German Federal Minister for the Environment, Jurgen Trittin, and other high-profile guests officially started operation of RE Power’s 5 MW “5M,” the company’s flagship wind turbine has already fed the first one million kWh of electricity into the grid. This is equal to one quarter of the power that a more common 1.5 MW turbine generates in a whole year at a comparably favorable site, said the company. Taking into consideration the shutdowns, which had to be performed for safety reasons to allow the numerous interested visitors onto the 5M, the world’s largest wind turbine has already achieved availability of 94 percent in the first month of operation.
