[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Salomon North America (SNA) tours the slopes every season to demo its skis, snowboards and accessories in the Salomon Oasis Project, and that means a lot of planes and trucks driving to get the gear to the mountains. This year, however, Salomon is purchasing renewable energy certificates (REC) through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s (BEF) “SkiGreen” initiative, which directly supports the National Ski Areas Association’s Sustainable Slopes program. All together the Oasis Project tour covers over 100,000 miles, and Salomon’s REC purchase should offset over 220,000 pounds of greenhouse gas and emissions.
