Connecticut Fuel Cells for German Biomass

A HotModule, manufactured by FuelCell Energy of Connecticut, is fuel cell technology that operates using natural gas or methanol, and MTU CFC Solutions of Germany has ordered more of the 250 kW carbonate fuel cell power plants for the Vattenfall/BeWag utility in Berlin. MTU is currently operating eight of the plants in Germany and Spain. Methanol for the fuel cell plants can be collected from naturally degrading biomass sources or created through anaerobic digesters from sources around Berlin. The plants can run solely on methanol or natural gas, or on a mix of the two fuels.
