Wind Power Moratorium Comes to an End

March 3, 2004 [] The Quebec Natural Resources Ministry announced a strategy for the granting of land use rights to wind developers interested in installing projects on government-owned land in the Gaspýsie and the regional municipality of Matane. The new program ends a 14-month moratorium the province placed on granting wind development leases while it sorted out a way to ensure developers responding to Hydro-Quebec’s 1000 MW wind power request for proposals have access to sites on public lands. The prices charged to lease the land will be based on market prices, the government says.
