ACORE Expands Programs, Board of Directors

The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) announced the results of its 2003 Board of Directors elections, resulting in an expanded Board, new leadership, and representation from around the country.

Washington D.C. – October 3, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] Robert L. Pratt has been elected to the position of ACORE’s non-executive Chairman of the Board. Pratt is Director of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust (RET), the US$150 million fund that was created to stimulate the supply of and demand for green power in that state. “I am very pleased to assume this leadership role in ACORE,” said Pratt. “ACORE has established itself very well as a voice for all renewables, and is poised to make major contributions to the renewable energy future of our country.” Pratt succeeds Michael T. Eckhart, who continues as President and member of the Board. “We are exceedingly pleased to have Rob in the chairmanship. He brings leadership qualities from his background on Congressional staff, as a successful private sector entrepreneur in renewable energy power generation, and as director of one of the major state funds for renewable energy,” said Eckhart. ACORE’s Board of Directors expanded from seven to eleven members. Other new members are Aimee R. Christensen, Executive Director of Environment 2004; Peter Dunev, Managing Partner of CALCEF, a clean energy investment fund in Sun Valley, Idaho; and Jefferson B. Seabright, Director of Green Strategies, Inc. New programs include the development of a national Media Center for Renewable Energy, publishing of an annual book entitled “Renewable Energy in America,” formation of an ACORE National Energy Security Coalition, and policy analysis initiatives on the benefits of renewables and the true story on government subsidies and incentives for all forms of energy. ACORE, a membership nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, is dedicated to bringing renewable energy into the mainstream of the US economy and lifestyle through information and communications programs. ACORE’s next conference is the all-renewables trade show called Power-Gen Renewable Energy in Las Vegas on March 1-3, 2004.
