New Turbines Installed for Minnesota Utility

March 25, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] The Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) has started up two NEG Micon 950 kW wind turbines near Fairmont, Minnesota. The project, which was completed for US$2.1 million, is expected to generate 5 million kWh of electricity annually for at least the next 25 years. SMMPA members began offering their customers a green power alternative in December 2000 through green power from outside suppliers. Now the company can provide their approximately 800 green power customers from SMMPA wind turbines.
