Tennessee Utility Goes Hybrid

December 10, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] One of the nation’s biggest power utilities is getting a new source of power to transport some of its managers. The Tennessee Valley Authority has bought 13 new hybrid gas- and battery-powered vehicles as part of its strategy to boost fleet mileage by 20 percent in the next five years. Over the past two years, TVA has bought 10 Honda Civic hybrids and three Toyota Prius hybrids for use in Chattanooga and seven other TVA locations.
