Green Power Marketing Conference to be held in Washington

Organizers of the Seventh National Green Power Marketing Conference, to be held in Washington D.C. from September 30 through October 2, 2002, said this year’s conference will focus on “Expanding Markets Through Innovation.”

Golden, Colorado – September 19, 2002 [] Among the scheduled speakers is Pat Wood, Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The conference will also feature presentation of the Second Annual Green Power Leadership Awards. Organized by the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Edison Electric Institute, and the Center for Resource Solutions, this annual conference has become the preeminent annual gathering of experts in the green power industry. “This is a decisive time for green power marketers, with new developments and innovations occurring continually,” said Terry Peterson of EPRI. “This Conference will provide participants not only with the latest market information, but also insights on more effective marketing approaches.” This year’s conference will provide regional summaries of green power marketing activities, examine green power marketing experience in other countries, explore innovative strategies for marketing to both large and small customers, and highlight new developments in renewable energy certificates and trading. Expert panels will also offer marketing tips and discuss federal and state policy challenges. “A growing number of businesses and individuals are buying electricity generated from Renewable Energy sources as these options become available in the marketplace,” said Blair Swezey of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. “Great opportunities await those who successfully bring green power products to market.”
