Michigan Alternative Energy Workshop Set

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will co-sponsor the upcoming “Alternative Energy and Distributed Generation: Siting, Permitting & Code Issues” workshop on September 13, 2002, at the Hotel Baronette, located in Novi, Michigan.

Lansing, Michigan – September 12, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] The one-day educational workshop, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the MEDC’s NextEnergy initiative, is designed for building code inspectors, fire marshals and utility interconnection engineers to learn about the installation, interconnection and application of new distributed energy technologies and alternative fuels. “This workshop is an excellent opportunity to advance the understanding of the technicalities, rules, standards and safety of alternative energy technologies as they relate to various roles in application,” said Doug Rothwell, president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Bringing together a broad range of professionals likely affected by the growing presence of alternative energy will help establish the foundation for understanding of the NextEnergy initiative.” The workshop will include presentations on distributed energy technologies relevant to jurisdictions and the various codes and standards that apply to those technologies. Local and state regulators will have the opportunity to dialogue with the manufacturers, allowing for discussion of local concerns, regulations and technical issues. Alternative energy products, including a working fuel cell and micro-turbine, will be on display and demonstrated during the workshop.
