August 13, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] China hosted its first solar car competition this year in an effort to encourage universities and enterprises to begin research in solar technologies. The China Solar Car Challenge, which included students from Tsinghua University, began in Beijing August 9. Three solar cars from Chinese and American universities took part in the competition in Beijing, before which they had been to Shanghai, Nanjing and Tianjing.
