Canadian Government Promotes Wind Energy

May 28, 2002 [] A new Canadian Government program will help increase the amount of wind energy available across the country by 500 percent. The country’s Minister of Natural Resources Canada recently launched the Wind Power Production Incentive (WPPI) – a CAN$260 million (US$170 million) initiative to develop wind energy across the country. Through WPPI, the Government of Canada will provide a financial incentive for the installation of 1,000 MW of new wind energy capacity in Canada over the next five years.
