April 16, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Australia’s new market for Renewable Energy certificates (REC) is not expected to reach substantial levels until 2005-06. The current trading price of RECs remains at around $A35.50 (US$18.85), and trading volumes are low. The Government’s targets will increase each year, but analysts say that until 2005-06, when industry targets become substantially higher, trading in RECs is expected to remain slow.
