2002-03-01 [SolarAccess.com] A group of Filipino and European investors is planning to build a 54 MW power plant that will run on a by-product of sugarcane milling. Victorias Bionergy Inc., formed by Venture Factors Inc. and Bronzeoak Ltd., will locate the plant in Victorias City in Negros Occidental. The power is to be sold to Victorias Milling Corp., the biggest integrated sugar operation in the Philippines and to residential/commercial customers and electric cooperatives in the area. Woodchips from local sustainable plantations will be used as off-season fuel.
