German Bank Funds Wind Energy Projects

2002-02-12 [SolarAccess.com] The state-owned German bank Ausgleichsbank funded 1,500 environmental projects in 2001 worth EURO 2.8 billion with the largest investment in wind energy, which received EURO 1.8 billion, up 17 percent from 2000. Germany has tripled its wind energy installations in the last three years and now boasts more than 2,079 sites generating three percent of the country’s electricity. Renewable energy as a whole represents 7.5 percent of the German electricity market.
