New York Offers Millions to Innovative Solar and Wind Projects

Individuals and companies have until the end of this month to apply for millions of dollars in funding for renewable energy projects from the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority.

NEW YORK, New York, US, 2001-11-02 [] NYSERDA will provide partial funding to develop, demonstrate, commercialize or market innovative solar electric or wind products, or improve manufacturing methods for these products. Eligible technologies for solar electric include photovoltaic and solar thermal systems, and associated products. In wind power, eligible technologies include wind energy conversion devices, components, and products that support wind energy systems and power plants. NYSERDA is seeking proposals for products that will be commercial within the next five years. This initiative is designed to build sustainable solar electric and wind energy manufacturing industries in the state. Products developed under this solicitation can target markets in New York State or worldwide. NYSERDA will make multiple awards up to a maximum of US$250,000 per project, and agreements will include royalty clauses requiring future payments from the manufacturer if the technology achieves commercial success. Proposers must exhibit an effective strategy to commercialize the technology and must demonstrate the intent to have the product manufactured in New York State. Fifty percent cost-sharing is required.
