Two new wind turbine models to cope with low wind speeds and high wind areas are being shown at the Windtech Husum wind energy fair in Germany.COPENHAGEN, Denmark, DK, 2001-10-12 [SolarAccess.com] NEG Micon AS is showing the new turbines; one is optimized for low wind conditions with Active-Stall regulation for inland sites (called the NM82/1500) while a larger 2.5 MW turbine (NM80/2500) has pitch regulation and variable speed for offshore and shoreline areas with offshore climatic conditions. NEG Micon will install a NM82/1500 prototype in Germany this December, and an 0-series will follow in mid-2002 with the NM82/1500 released for series production late next year for sale to other markets with climatic conditions similar to Germany. The NM80/2500 is an IEC I turbine, for sites with high wind classification such as offshore and shoreline areas with offshore climatic conditions. The main markets for this turbine are expected to be Denmark, Britain, Sweden, Norway and Holland. The larger model prototype is to be installed in Denmark this year and NEG Micon expects to install a larger 0 series next year and to put the type into serial production in the first half of 2003.
