The Canadian company Boralex Inc. has purchased two power generating stations that burn wood residue in the state of Maine.MONTREAL, Quebec, CA, 2001-09-26 [SolarAccess.com] The transaction involves an investment of US$26.5 million, and the electricity produced will be sold in the New England market. The two stations have total capacity of 80 MW. The installed capacity of all Boralex facilities will reach 300 MW following the consolidation of its activities in the U.S. northeast and optimization of the supply of wood residue. The purchases bring to six the number of power stations owned by the Montreal company in the United States, and is in line with Boralex’s objective of expanding into deregulated energy markets. Boralex wants to become the largest generator of electricity from wood residue in North America.
