The third largest utility company in Germany plans to invest “millions of marks” in renewable energy projects.FRANKFURT, Germany, DE, 2001-08-15 [SolarAccess.com] The third largest utility company in Germany plans to invest “millions of marks” in renewable energy projects. EnBW Kraftwerke AG says it will increase its investments in the coming years by “three-figure” millions of marks to achieve further emissions reductions and effective climate protection. The firm is looking at the Schwabian Mountains and the Black Forest as possible sites for windfarms, and is also looking at biomass power plants at a pulp plant in Ulm in partnership with the local municipal utility. A further five large biomass plants are planned in Baden Wuerttemberg, where the utility is based. As a result of its renewable energy strategy, EnBW has a target to cut CO2 emissions by one million tonnes in the medium term.
