OAK RIDGE, Tennessee – A U.S. federal agency has enhanced its information for solar photovoltaic (PV) energy on its internet portal. The portal is a multi-functional electronic product that allows users to obtain information on a number of renewable energy technologies. The Office of Solar Energy Technologies (OSET) offers new releases from a selected site and features to search multiple sites and return results in a single query. Another new feature provides users an automatic way of receiving the most current preprints from several databases. In addition to solar photovoltaic, OSTI also provides electronic access to current reports dealing with biofuels, biopower, concentrating solar power, geothermal and wind energy technologies. The Concentrating Solar Power portal provides a collection of bibliographic citations with abstracts and full-text reports pertaining to current worldwide research that expands the technology base required to advance solar thermal systems as a significant energy source. Geothermal Energy provides information on economic recovery of geothermal energy and its use as direct heat or for electric power production. The Wind Energy Technology portal is provides information on wind energy and how the wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. OSTI leads the Department of Energy e-government initiatives for disseminating R&D information. It is part of the Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research in DOE’s Office of Science and is responsible for leading the Department’s Technical Information Program and for providing direction and coordination for the dissemination of scientific and technical information resulting from DOE research programs.
