Energy Equipment Manufacturers Gather in Saratoga Springs, NY to Discuss Commercial Market Expansion

Resource Professionals Group (RPG) and the Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC) announced an unprecedented meeting among 24 of North America's major biomass thermal equipment manufacturers. The half-day event was geared towards identifying common impediments to growth and developing new networks and opportunities for biomass thermal applications. Supported by the U.S. Forest Service's Wood Education and Resource Center, the event was the second in a series of meetings encouraging open dialogue between industry leaders.

The Renewable Energy Markets Association (REMA) today applauded the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) adoption of the state's final cap-and-trade regulation. On October 20, 2011, CARB voted unanimously to implement the emissions trading program, which included a REMA-recommended mechanism that recognizes the value voluntary renewable energy purchases have in preventing the release of emissions.

Oil Prices Accelerating; NE Biomass Advocates Rally for Renewable Energy

According to estimates from the Energy Information Administration, prices for U.S. home heating oil rose 24 percent in February 2011, compared to February 2010. With prices expected to continue to rise, members of the Northeast Biomass Thermal Working Group (NEBTWG) are urging homeowners, business owners and policy makers to take action making the utilization of renewable heating options, like biomass, a reality for more residents of the Northeastern United States. According to the group, steadily rising fossil fuel costs are, once again, causing the region to refocus efforts in support of renewable alternatives.
