Cornell University's Silo House

Described as agricultural/industrial in style, the exterior of the home is covered with COR-TEN, a corrugated, steel cladding that loses its original sheen as the outer layer oxidizes to a weather-proof ruddy coating.

Nice. Solar powered homes are an analogy for a renewable powered economy. It isn't feasible without radical improvements in efficiency. Well insulated and air tight Homes can be built that use 90% less energy for heat than your typical American home. Notice also that they are not trying to power McMansions. Home owners of the future may be keeping up with the Jones via solar panels and efficiency instead of cavernous space and manicured lawns.
