Composite App Challenge Communication to the Finalists Tue, 1 February 2011 From: Thomas E. Kloss The following email was received from the Owens Corning Composite Application Challenge Program Manager on Wed, 26 Jan 2011. Unfortunately my Renewable Energy entry of a "Commercial Ducted Savonius Rotor VAWT" got past the Semi Finals and the Finals. However, my entry in the Owens Corning Composite Application Challenge (A 4 Billion Dollar Company) was NOT a winner. However, it helped me develop my Ducted Savonius Rotor ideas and develop new wind and ocean energy turbine designs. The mental stimulation and new software skills were enjoyable. I have been actively employed at PMRF for the past 36 years. I started in Post Data Analysis and went on to supervise 13 employees. I became System Manager of MIS software on Univac 1230 computers. I upgraded several HP3000 systems from 1990 to 2007 for use in Range MIS Finance, Range Scheduling, Logistics, Base Support, Range Resource Utilization, and PM Systems. After upgrading the software for all systems through the Y2K requirements, I assisted various developers in transferring all Range Software to various other servers. For the last two systems remaining on the legacy HP3000, I acted as the Project Manager of Range Resource Utilization and PM System migration. I developed, with the current IT staff, our present software which resides on MAXIMO. I have continued as the Administrator for these systems. Recently, I have been working towards compliance with the new Manu Kai CDRL requirements for the new systems and reports needed for the January 2009 startup date. I have maintained a secret DISCO security clearance since 1972. .
