Tom Ingram
BIO: Tom Ingram, Technical Writer / Engineer (elec-mech) Senior-level Technical Writer of installation & service and Users/operators manuals and documents, 20 years professional experience. Currently working in nuclear instrumentation field, but the majority of my exposure have been various software-controlled 'systems' used in business and industry. I'm very sensitive to the audience issues as I generally have to help develop the user interface or help in its QA process, and ultimately explain it in plain language. I'm involved in global products, fast-paced and high-tech issues. I typically work for the manufacturer or directly in the engineering group that's 'really making the product', rarely resale or aftermarket. I'm a hands-on, engineering-minded, technical guy. I'm very interested in migrating my skills to the 'alternative energy' field. My college thesis was a solar hot water heater, and my attention now is more toward Wind Energy, Transmission & Distribution, hydrokinetic sources of all kinds, and electromotive force especially as it relates to transportation. I'm looking into the future energy systems, less into refinement of the current systems which are failing us, and in helping speed the implementation of change. I currently work and write full-time from a home office, remotely from my corporate office for family need reasons, and I'm interested in writing opportunities to get me into the RE field more than I already am.
