RAM Kishore
BIO: RAM Kishore, Professor & Head, Applied Sciences, MAIT, Rohini Sect 22, Delhi-110086 [ Ex- Scientist 'G' Director Gr & Head NPL, New Delhi-12] Prof. Ram Kishore retired as Scientist ‘G’ (Director’s Grade) from National Physics Laboratory in April 2008. He is working as professor and head of the Applied Science Department for the last Four years at Maharja Agrasen Institute of Technology, a top ranking Institute of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. He has 36 years of experience in R&D at NPL and 3 years as professor. He carried out research and development work in the area of silicon material preparation, crystallization and cell fabrication for 25 years. He did his M.Sc. in Physics from Agra University and completed his Thesis work on “Effect of Various Material Parameters on the performance of Silicon Solar Cells” at NPL and earned his Ph.D. degree from Agra University. He was involved in various R&D projects funded by DST. He was then given the responsibility of heading the Electron Microscopy group at NPL where he carried out extensive work on characterization of various materials and his own interest had been on low temperature crystallization of amorphous silicon for photovoltaic applications which he pursued as Principal Investigator of a DST India-NSF,USA .joint project During his tenure at NPL he worked on Silicon Material and Solar Cell at National Renewable Energy Lab, Golden Colorado, USA for one year (1993-94) as Raman Research fellow of CSIR, New Delhi. He was visiting professor for one year (1999-2000) in Electrical Engineering Department of University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA. and worked on Metal Induced Crystallization of Amorphous silicon for Photovoltaic applications – a NASA funded project He worked as high level fellow of French Government for one year (1985-86). It was an EEC funded project on Thin Film Low Cost Silicon Material and Solar Cells. He executed his R&D work at CECM, Vitry, Solid State Physics Lab (LPS), Meudon both in CNRS Labs in Paris., IMEC ( a Katholic University, Leuven Centre of excellence in Solid State Device Fabrication) in Belgium. He was visiting Professor for ~ 3 Months at Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan in 2004. He has visited more than twenty international organizations in USA, UK, Belgium, France and Japan. These include : Universities, Institutes, R&D Organizations, National Labs and Private Companies. He had worked very closely with M/s Central Electronics Ltd, Sahibabad, M/s Udhya Semiconductors, Coimbatore, M/s METKEM Silicon, Salem, TN on various projects related to Silicon Solar Photovoltaics . He has ~ 150 publications in International and National Journals, International conferences , article in Books, He has Two US and Two Indian Patents. He has delivered a number of invited lectures in various US and Indian Universities. His research interests include silicon materials and devices, nonmaterial growth, characterization and applications. He is on the board of examination of Ph.D./M.Tech thesis of Kolhapur University, Kolhapur, IIT, Roorkee and Jamia, Milia Islamia, Delhi. He is life member of various academic societies such as MRSI, EMSI, ISAS, SSMI, IACG.. He also served as UNSECO expert on Energy. Recent Activity
