Moser Baer Recieves PV Investment
Opportunities of Govt backed low rate Soft loans, grants, incentives and tax breaks available for renewable energy projects in India is really enormous.

Our associates in India reviewed several projects in states that are endowed with very high renewable solar & wind resources. They undertook technical study and performed financial analysis of few solar and wind power projects. Renewable energy resources were factored into the available financial incentives and supports, including the high degree of current political will. Interested investment community would love to enjoy the very high DSCR and ROI that resulted from the investment analysis. Additionally, the availability of very attractive state incentives make the financial returns, even much more attractive.

Traditionally, a large part of power generating equipments used to be imported until few years ago. However, the continued growth of SUZLON wind and Moser Baer in solar and system production from many other competitors, has made it much easier to build wind and solar projects in India.

There is an open RFP for renewable power projects from the renewable energy department; project need to be operating before Dec 31, 2009.

Pulp and Paper Industry Poised to Take Center Stage in Global Bioenergy Arena
I kind of disagree with Jeffrey Viola's comment because writer is saying that available forest residuals and agricultural wastes would be utilized to produce bioenergy based fuels. Paper mills never collect or utilize these wastes, even though they are available.
As in the article, "In the U.S. alone, pulp mills use more than 120 million dry tons of wood per year, and they have access to at least an equal amount of forest residuals and even a greater amount of agricultural wastes and energy crops if needed."
Could you let me know, if the article failed to emphasize this point?

MI&T Licenses WindFloat Platform
How many wind turbines on each offshore plat form?
Any capital cost estimate and economic analysis for a likely offshore wind project?

Greater Gabbard Wind Project Gets Go-ahead
It sure is costly to put up off shore wind turbines.
Total cost of the SSE and Fluor project is about US $ 2.6 billion for 504 MW of capacity and that translates to almost $5.2 million per MW capacity.
In comparison, on shore wind plants can still be installed at $2 mil a MW.

I was wondering what could be capacity factor of Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm off the Suffolk coast of the UK? Would any body care to let me know?
For better on shore locations, CF may be in the range of 0.25 to 0.28! and few best ones could have values like 0.3 to 0.4, specially in designated areas of N Dakota, Colorado etc.

Wind Power Gets Boost in Maine
Maine and New Hampshire both are blessed with immense wind resources.

Now that Maine legislators have overwhelmingly voted for wind energy,
their next step should be to make the permitting process easier and initiating an effective Clean Energy financing support.

With the expected potential offshore turbines along the East coast , we might soon be on our road to a diminishing carbon energy world.

Senate Passes Housing Bill with PTC & ITC Extensions Included
Does our lawmakers know that it takes almost five years or more to develop a large scale solar or wind project? It should not take much time for course 101.

What positive effect shall come out of a PTC extension of only one year?
May be to ensure the ruin of the project next year!

Adriun did correctly identify the obvious contradiction of this PTC extension;
our lawmakers completely failed it.

Wind Energy Corp. Launches Test Project

Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) has been in laboratory, pilot phases for more than six years. Couple of distributors, one of them in NJ, sells KWH to commercial clients, schools and others. The company promotes fixed price energy on the basis of long term PPA with the client. Price is usually lequal or lower than the prevailing rate in the utiity region.

I believe this (Build-Own_Operate) BOO project programs are still waiting to see the active interest from potential clients.

However, this test project between Wind Energy Corp & H-E-B of Weslaco, Texas may provide the needed boost for VAWT system.

Hydrokinetic Permits Abound Despite Objections

It appears that FERC is acting a bit high handed in issuing these hundreds of in-river and ocean permits.

Energy produced from 4100 free-flow, each of these 20 kW generating units moored in Mississippi river bottom shall really make a difference in energy equation, specially when many mor hundreds and thousands are installed.

These sets of insatallation, presumably will be interconnected before feeding the utility line. Can any one let me know when they should start production?

AMSC Gets Orders From Canada and China

S & C Electric of USA has been making switch gear and substation equipment, specifically for wind turbines for last several years.

These dedicated gears produce and balance reactive power to the grid and regulate and smooth power flow.

We have specified them for our wind projects with good result.

AREVA Signs 400-MW Deal with PROKON

Way to go Borkum-West II project !

With fast increasing capacities of wind farms, offshore and onshore, it is not too far when we shall hear about 1000 MW or larger wind.

Unless the PTC and investment credits are improved and renewed, our wind projects shall start to slow down soon.

DOE Selects SkyFuel to Develop CSP
A 400 MW Concentrated Solar Power has been in operation for last 35 years.
Another smaller one NEVADA 1 CSP plant has been operating for last few months also.
Could anyone let me know what type of reflector systems are they using -- concave glass mirror structure or something else? What are specs and who are makers?

Hannover Leasing Acquires 10.7 MW PV Portfolio from Epuron

10.7 MW solar PV producing 10000 MWH. Energy recovery factor is a paltry 0.11

However, because of other potential revenue streams like renewable carbon credits,  these projects will generate enough income for share holders.

Diversified Energy & XL Renewables Testing New Algae Technology

Very encouraging info. We wish all the best for its success

Obvious & major  questions:

Can the xlrenewables Co provide answers to these few very basic questions?        We are actively interested.

1) Will it be easier to produce algae and more productive in tropical climate?       What are analytical results of the liquid bio oil produced?

2) Will it be OK to use waste land for commercial algae production?

3) How would you produce liquid bio oil for biodiesel production from dehydrated algae?

4) "oil production costs are estimated at only $0.08 - $0.12/pound". Is this the liquid oil ready to be introduced in the standard transesterification process equipments? If not -- what and how?

Committing to Renewable Energy Will Pay Off

The article is a product of intensive research and enormous investment of scientific labor into human knowledge "CAPITAL".

It is really applaudable and we appreciate it.

Now it is the turn when industry, government, communities need to step up to the plate.
