GM and the Chevy Volt -- Can They Be Trusted?
Mr Fitch I think you are in for an 'electric shock' please stop living in the past. The internal combustion engine will very soon be history. We are living in an electronic age and our vehicles will be powered by electricity either by batteries or fuel cells or a combination of both. The automobile is about to be reinvented and yes I know a lot of people will not want to give up their 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's but in time they well get used to the idea, it's what you call progress.

NHA Report Says Hydrogen Vehicles Will Drive Change
I love my old Holden car and it has been a faithful servant never letting me down, however I can't help thinking in this electronic age there must be a better and cleaner way to power our vehicles.
We will see a transition from combustion to EV's and the big question is How will we produce/store the electrons to power the motor/motors?
Batteries can do the job but have a limited range nothing is worse than being stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat battery!
The answer to this problem is to produce electrons on demand using hydrogen as a feedstock and a fuel cell to power the electric motors.
I think all people who favour electronic vehicles as the answer to our pollution problems should be united.
Let us start producing vehicles that can be converted from battery to fuel cell
or a combination of both along with energy recovery devices and we will be heading in the right direction.
We are living in exciting times akin to when horse give way to combustion as our preferred mode of personal transport.
Hydrogen is a wonderful element and we will all rejoice in the day when it becomes our main stream energy carrier.
Our remaining crude oil will be the feedstock for old and new products in the plastic industry and will always be a valuable commodity but gone are the days when we burnt it in a combustion engine destroying our lungs and poisoning our precious planet.

Moulding tomorrow's market
Re. waste heat. Lonnie Johnson another smart black American with impressive credentials has come up with an invention to convert heat into electricity. It is called the Johnson Thermo-electrochemical Convertor system [JTEC]
Is he talking a lot of hot air or is this the energy game-changer we have been waiting for?
Wishing you every success Lonnie, the world need you and your inventions.

The Future of the Electric Car in China
With global warming we can expect the end of the I.C.E. age[internal combustion engine] and E.V.'s will take their rightful place.

The big question is, where will we store/produce the electricity to power these vehicles?. Will it be batteries, fuel cells or a combination of both?

If I were Warren Buffett I would have a dollar each way and also bet on the Europeans who are favouring hydrogen fuel cells.

The Elephant Under the Rug: Denial and Failed Energy Projects
To all the Doubting Thomas's. Re. hydrogen. Yesterday a whole herd of elephants came out from beneath the rug and signed the approval for vehicles to run on hydrogen and endorsing the hydrogen economy. It is called the European Parliament. Will America get left behind by not embracing the new technology? as was the case in the steel industry it dominated for many years.
Oh and I'm no zealot just a car enthusiast who happens to believe that there is a better and cleaner way to power our vehicles in the twenty first Century. Stripping electrons from hydrogen rather than burning smelly oil and polluting the planet makes more sense to me.

The Elephant Under the Rug: Denial and Failed Energy Projects
It is as clear-as-daylight Thom is pushing his own barrow for geothermal energy and have you believe that turning our planet earth into a giant swiss cheese is a good idea.
I have a better one, let us use the energy of the sun to produce hydrogen The F.C. plants can be scaled up our down to suit our energy needs.
I think we have to look up and not down and it will be less intrusive on this beautiful world we live in.
I think Thom's idea is full of holes!

Hydrogen Projects Finding Mixed Funding Sources
Paul.

HFC fork lifts are happening now and are proving their worth at Wal-Mart and Bridgestone Firestone. I have no doubt smaller companies will follow the trend when they gain confidence in the new technology.

Hydrogen Projects Finding Mixed Funding Sources
Hi siphon. I think your nose has been to close to the petrol tank to make such a statement. Hydrogen fuel cell cars are a dead end you must be joking they are only beginning.
As for batteries, the fork lift industry can't replace them quick enough with hydrogen fuel cells.
All I ask is to open your mind leave your predjudices behind and support the people who trying their best to bring the world a secure clean form of energy.

State of the Union? No way. We are living in paradise now and nuclear free. Why would we want to share our garden of "EDIN" with people .who think money can buy everything?

Trina To Provide PV Cells for Hybrid Airplane
Howard you are so right.
James and Al have not done the research and now they think two wrongs make a right.
In this case the hydrogen is an electron carrier. H. will be pumped through the fuel cell to convert it to electricity to power the electric motors.
I am sure we will see many more King Canute's trying to turn the tide in the lead up to the hydrogen economy

Practical Tools To Speed Up the Transition Away from Petroleum
George. Petrol does not exist freely in nature but it has not stopped us using it and polluting the planet. The people living in the major cities of the world are gasping for breath. What will we use when we run out of the feedstock?

We can not make petrol out of water but we can make hydrogen by hydrolysis using that free ball of hydrogen energy that pops up over the horizon every morning. Just one of the many ways we can produce the gas.

We have a few technical problems to iron out before we become a fully fledged hydrogen economy but as we do the research they are becoming less and less .Thank God we have the best brains and companies looking for solutions to our energy and pollution problems. They are not sitting on their hands waiting for the lights to go out or to die of lung failure.
