BIO: John Armstrong

I am a mechanical engineer who spent 20 years in the wind industry developing turbine technology in the UK and building several windfarms. I ended up as Technical Director and then Managing Director of the Wind Energy Group, a subsidiary of Taylor Woodrow Construction, and the only successful wind turbine manufacturer the UK has ever really had. But the market was too difficult in the UK, and WEG was sold in 1999, ending up with Vestas. Now I work on the application of an integrated approach from what I know about wind and offshore engineering to the challenge of tidal stream energy!
