BIO: Immanuel Korthals Altes, consultant

Immanuël K.V. Korthals Altes (*1945) Altes has been born in The Netherlands. He studied medical science and law in Amsterdam. Already in his early years he mediated between people, even on the primary school. He started his career as a HRM and ITM. He worked as a monitor / mediator in the frontlines of Croatia (1992) and as a Confidence Building Officer in Macedonia (2001-2004). In between he has been a professional artillery officer and had his own small mediation and management services company, which he started in 1986. He overcame his risk of becoming a PTSS victim by writing his very private diaries during his missions. From 2003-2006 he was an ambassador Honoris Causa in the Dutch governmental taskforce “Women in Conflict situations and Peacekeeping”, based on the UN Security Council resolution 1325. Since 2008 Altes is also involved in (deep) geo-electricity research and other sustainable energy sources. In between he worked as a consultant with EUPOL on sexual violence in Congo-Kinshasa (2010) update: 20110704
